EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW:
NIGERIAN FAST-RISING STAR
EWA
Ewa is officially no stranger to the big leagues, THE MAN OF GOD talent star, who has a profession in music and theatre, was catapulted into the big recognition when Doncrufixto Entertainment, a Uk-based record label announced his signing and immediately went ahead to release an E.P titled #LLSW.
But almost a decade ago now, when he shared music covers of big Artistes songs and didn't have, a producer, neither a manager, big names in the industry to share his content, trusting his sound in his face, it didn't always look like a dream come true.
Born in Ibadan, Niigeria in the 90s into the Adefioye's family, Ewa remembers joyous times as a young boy, living in his family home, growing up to loving the sounds of many Nigerian top stars and idolising Davido; but also a time of difficulty, where it was not seeming like it at all.
He quickly came to understand that sometimes life operates in extremes - a very valuable lesson and something that's shapped him into who he is today, not just a person, but also an artist. There's an empathy and appreciation for people's stories that comes with having to learn the hand truths of the world around you so early in life. But in Ewa's eyes, he's all the better for those experiences.
With the world now paying attention, the Doncrufixto Entertainment, already groomed talent is determined to make his mark in the music industry, whether that's through taking a brand new character's story and making his own, or creating opportunities for other creatives to step into the spotlight and shine. What matters most to this visionary is to remain true to himself and his art, always keeping people happy.

HOW HAS THE JOURNEY OF MUSIC, SINCE YOU BECAME PART OF THE DONCRUFIXTO ENTERTAINMENT FAMILY TILL DATE?
For the past one year now that I've been signed, it has been a good one, like it's different from the way it was, there's still a lot to be done, a whole lot things to cover up, there's alot of improvement, personally as an artist, I'm basically working on my sound, I want to focus on understanding my audience more, understanding my own self more, putting out the best of music. I've been working on some sort of rebrand, total rebrand, like THE EWA BRAND, like sometimes it's not just bout dishing anything, it's about dishing out rightly, knowing how to go about it. That has been taking my time of late.
TUNDE EDNUT POSTED YOUR VIDEO... LET'S TALK ABOUT IT. HOW DID IT HAPPEN?
Tunde Ednut posted my video last year. It was a really good one for me, I mean, it shows that like you don't know there are like a number of people watching, looking out for you, like checking out to see if this person is doing this, if this person is doing that, like so it was a big one for me, because Tunde Ednut had posted me back then in 2016, 6 years now, he posting me again last year was something that actually brought smiles to my face, because it tells there's much improvement.
Now the Tunde Ednut's Effect... Social Media Exposure
Tunde Ednut's effect on my music, I mean the last post he made of me, the OJUJU cover I made to Oxlade's song was really good, because it made alot of people come to my page to see, what this guy is up to, what's this young guy up to, who is this young dude? It sort of gave me more Publicity, more alot of fans, opened alot of people's eyes to what I do, my craft, so it was like a good one.
It wasn't overwhelming, like I mean I've had a couple of celebrities post my stuff, from way back, from years, for years now a couple of celebrities have reposted my stuff. It's something like I wasn't really overwhelmed by it, but it was like a plus.
YOU HAD A TIME PERFORMED AT A SHOW WIZKID WAS...TELL US ABOUT IT
Yeah, opening the show of being one of the talents that opened the show for wizkid last year December was a huge one for me, I mean I have performed with a couple of A-list Artistes, I've performed on the same stage with alot of A-list Artistes, but wizkid, I've never been on the same stage as wizkid before, so being that he was the headliner, performing at the same show was a big thing for me, it was not easy, it was alot of stress, travelling down to Warri, lots of issues came up with my travelling because of my flight, almost missed my flight, back and forth, but i mean it was really good. Warri actually welcomed me nicely, I didn't expect that people will vibe along with me or my sound, judging with the fact that I've never been to that Delta before, 2021 December was the first time I will ever step my feet into Warri, Delta, like it was a good one. It was really a good one.
I didn't expect the response I got from the audience, people wanted to listen, I mean some other people actually vibed and sang along, that's to say that the whole push is reaching somewhere. It was a good one for me. It really was.
JOGOR CENTRE, ANKARA FIESTA WAS CRAZY.... HOW WAS IT?
Yeah Jogor event, that was Ankara fiesta, was massive. This year 2022, that was April fabrics and Ankara fiesta. It was a very good one for me, I mean Ibadan city was where I came from, so it was like going back home for me. As usual the welcome was nice, the hospitality was good and the performance on stage was also good too.
Shoutout to everybody that supported, Shoutout to April Fabrics Ankara fiesta CEO, Shoutout to her for putting me on board. I mean it was really a good one, really really a good one for me.
IF ITS NOT MUSIC, WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?
HAHAHAHAHAHAH... If it's not music, it will still be Music. That's on a lighter note tho loool. I used to be a fashion designer, like I can actually sew, may be if I'm not doing music, I'm an Actor. I am into film-acting and stage acting. I am generally an Entertainer, so it's not just limited to this Music thing; but I just love this music thing because music is my life, it's already a part and passle of me, it's something I can't breathe without, so if it wasn't music, I definitely will be known to be seen on screen as an Actor.
Actually back then, I started out with skits, because years back on my Instagram page, I meddle music and comedy together, I used to make skits, like very funny ones, cracking people up on my Instagram, but it got to a point, I had to just focus on one, which made me just choose music and focus on it squarely rather. If it wasn't music, I would have been a Comedian or an Actor generally.

NOLLYWOOD, HOLLYWOOD OR BOLLYWOOD. WHICH IS YOUR FAVORITE?
It depends on the kind of Nollywood, there are some Cinema movies I watch. I don't watch movies at all. I am that kind of dude you don't wanna be in the cinema with, like I'm that kind of guy that goes to the cinema and won't remember the title of the movie I watched, I probably just be pressing my phone. You wouldn't wanna go on a movie date with me, trust me.
Although, in the convenience of my space, it depends, Nollywood. I don't watch Bollywood but Hollywood, yeah high school, too much action movies, no I'm not really a fan, I mean I could watch them but I'm not. I mean Comedy. Nollywood or Hollywood high school.
THERE ARE TEN RANDOM QUESTIONS WE ASK... WILL YOU ANSWER THEM LOOOOOOOOL
YOUR FAVORITE NIGERIAN ACTOR.. WHO IS HE?
Do I actually have a favorite Nigerian actor? I have a couple of them trust me if I have any it has to be a very funny one because I love comic characters alot, I love people who plays comic roles.
MUSIC ABOVE FOOD
LAUGHS SO HARD......
Actually, for someone like me that I don't have time to eat, I forget to eat, it is until I have the time, like I feel pains, more like okay, I have to eat but see ehn food is life too. Music is my life, but if I'm not eating, I will probably die, for i won't be able to make music so, Music above food. Hmmmmmm, I don't know, you know people should come and carry your question and go looooooooooooool.
ONE NIGERIAN FEMALE ARTISTE YOU HAVE EVER THOUGHT OF SMASHING? ANYONE LOOOOOOOOL
Wait! How do you use to dream rubbish? You people should warn yourself ooO, I don't use to dream about nonsense, you people should know what you are saying. You people should know what you are saying ooO! EhnEhnnn (Says Jestfully)
ONE NIGERIAN FEMALE ARTISTE YOU HAVE ALREADY SMASHED IN YOUR MIND LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
I don't do that, I don't do that. God forbid looooooool.
TUNDE EDNUT OR INSTABLOG9JA! WHICH?
Of course, both of them. I mean I've had my stuff posted on the two blogs. Shoutout to Instablog9ja, Shoutout to Tunde Ednut, King Mufasa, it's not me you people want to Kobalize. Seriously speaking, I don't have a favorite. Tunde Ednut is cool, Instablog9ja is also cool, like both of them do the same thing, like the main purpose of these people is to help put your stuff out there, once they see you're doing well, you are being creative. I don't think I'm being able to pick one over the other.
IF YOU WERE OFFERED AN OPPORTUNITY TO FEATURE EITHER WIZKID, BURNABOY, DAVIDO, LILBABY, OLAMIDE. WHOM ARE YOU PICKING?
The thing is this, if I am to pick ehn, I will pick everybody because I will love to work with Wizkid, Burnaboy has the sauce too. Davido is like my person, I mean I love Davido alot, I love Wizkid too. I love all these people alot. Olamide, king of the streets. So I think at every point or at some point, there this game. Lil baby too is an International act, so it's a big big thing for me. If I am able to pick all of them in one song, why not, if not looooooool.
YOU WANNA SAY ANYTHING TO YOUR FANS? WHAT SHOULD YOUR FANS EXPECT FROM YOU SOONER OR LATER...
My fans should expect anything, just anything but trust me something is cooking. We're coming, working on alot. My fans should expect something soon, as I won't be able to say the exact date, like i said, I am working on a lot trying to work on sounds, able to serve you all rightly, appropriately and not just anyhow sound out there or doing the same thing over and over, like Music has envolved to a point at which one has to be strategic about putting out stuff, so basically sooner or later, soon enough, a new music is gonna be out. Irawo Nation, I love you all. Shoutout to everybody. Shoutout to everybody supporting. Shoutout to everybody supporting the dream. Shoutout to Pelumi Magazine. Shoutout to all my fans out there. Thank you for having me. I love you all
